Mr. Suriya Kaeoprasop, who has been taking care of Nong Sakorn, their child born with a leaky valve heart, shared about this experience at Ronald McDonald’s House at King chulalongkorn memorial hospital.
After the smooth delivery, the doctors discovered an abnormality in his baby's heart function. Following a thorough examination, they found that Nong Sakorn had a leaky heart valve and has been receiving treatment since birth until the present day, with ongoing medical care required.
As Nong Sakorn grew older, he experienced a shock, which led Mr. Suriya's family to be particularly vigilant. At that time, Mr. Suriya, as the head of the household, faced difficulties in managing his son's treatment because he had to travel from Chumphon in the south to Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok to take Nong Sakorn for medical care. He had to drive alone for a distance of over 500 kilometers, which made him tired and physically exhausted. Moreover, he had to stay and care for his son for extended periods.
Being able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House allowed the family to care for Nong Sakorn closely. It enabled the father, who was primarily responsible for his son's care, to get more restful sleep and have the strength to look after Nong Sakorn every day. In case of emergencies, he could also go to his son immediately. Additionally, they received encouragement from other patient families who supported each other, and importantly, they also received moral support from the staff at Ronald McDonald’s House.
